Help Make a Difference at the St. Johns River Cleanup

The 29th Annual St. Johns River Cleanup will take place on April 5, 2025, from 8 to 11 a.m., bringing together volunteers dedicated to protecting and preserving one of Florida’s most vital waterways. This annual event, organized by Volusia County’s Environmental Management Division, provides a great opportunity for local residents to make a tangible impact on the river’s health. Participants will receive a free giveaway, with the option of either a hat or a stuffed otter. A special bonus this year will be a tree giveaway, where volunteers can take home one or two trees from a selection available at their cleanup site.
Last year, 323 volunteers contributed 969 hours of work, successfully removing 4,245 pounds of trash from the river and its surrounding areas. The event highlights the importance of the St. Johns River’s ecology while fostering community engagement and promoting environmental stewardship. Volunteers can choose from several cleanup locations, including Nine Mile Point Park, Shell Harbor Park, and DeLeon Springs. Additionally, participants can clean up anywhere along the river from Lake George to Puzzle Lake. Those collecting trash at unscheduled locations are encouraged to report their estimated collection to the nearest site or via email.
Location: 123 W. Indiana Ave., DeLand, FL 32720. For more information, call 386-736-5927, ext. 12074, or visit Volusia.org/cleanup.
